Deep throat was an anonymous investigator who gave out secret information to Washington post reporters Carl B. and Bob W., about the misdeeds of the then president Nixon of the United States of America (Morgan). Through his information, the public was able to get a glimpse of the misdeeds which happed on their top mot offices. This related to burglary activities on democratic national congress headquarters housed at Watergate complex in Washington. Deep throat true identify was kept a secret since 1972 up to late 2005(Time Magazine). In this paper, I am going to show that the continued anonymity was necessary.

Firstly cases involving governments are very delicate. No one can accurately predict how deep along the hierarchy of leadership they might have gone. What complicates the matters even more is the fact that the president of a world superpower was involved. I believe the continued anonymity of deep throat was warranted. The dilemma that define whistle blowing it that loyalty to the past, present, future employer also the public is bound to be harmed. A nation will take news differently depending on how the whistle blower (in this case e deep throat related to the president and the administration) when the public starts to doubt his motive then, a problem would be created. Moreover, the public may loose trust in the presidency itself and this can plug a country with big democratic space into chaos (Morgan).

What should be understood is the information was released and made the president resign what was with held is only who “deep throat”.  That according to me was of no consequence the central intelligence agency and federal of the bureau of investigation had the capacity to carry out investigation on their own based on the already provided information if at all they wished. Although, pole may argue that some parties like Howard Hunt of CIA were involved, I do not think the whole CIA was involved and could have at least did more investigations on their own. Although deep throat was later in 2005 said to be Mark Felt an FBI associate director, I believe keeping deep throat identity in quotes helped steer the country’s agenda as well as protecting the right to privacy and protection form misjudgment to Mark Felt.
